What are Heritage Angus Cattle?
Aberdeen Angus cattle that have not had any American Angus influence since 1968. Bulls from the “Pinebank” closed herd (NZ) are a prime example of ‘Heritage Angus Cattle’.
The term native cattle or native breed is now widely used to cover any breed which originated in the UK, ie Shorthorn, Hereford and Angus. As a way of differentiating in the Angus breed, the term NATIVE BRED, means no imported bloodlines, into the original genetics, and this is marked on the animal’s pedigree certificate. Native bred Aberdeen Angus cattle are included in the Heritage Angus registry of Ausline Cattle.
